Srila Prabhupada’s ISKCON Bangalore – Baseless allegations on Akshaya Patra & ISKCON Bangalore senior devotees & my opinion about these allegations

The following is the complete article posted on a site-of-frustrated-vilifiers called Madha Bandit News Blog and a ‘phrase-to-phrase’ clarification based on what I know from my interaction with ISKCON Bangalore as a Donor & a Volunteer for almost 7 years now. The article content is in normal font while my response is in the bold for each allegation.

1. Shivakumar calls top ISKCON dasas cheats

A. His opinion cannot be the basis of an argument or debate. What is there in it for the Dasas to cheat? They are neither politicians like the accuser nor are they businessmen. They have relinquished their materialistic life to serve Srila Prabhupada & have nothing to gain materially. Love of Krishna is what the devotees seek.

2. KPCC working president DK Shiva Kumar has urged the government to arrest ISKCON, Bangalore president Madhu Pandit Dasa and vice-president Chanchalpathi Dasa and confiscate their property.

A. Not yet happened. So anyone can guess the actual weightage of this allegation. Politicians have a lot of urges. They stoop to find a scoop to stay in the news. I strongly object to this statement asking for arrest & thus vilifying our ‘Dasas’ in public which is a serious crime. Mr DKS, you are a powerful & dynamic politician, so please spend time to introspect on your stand in this issue based on testimonials of criminal-sadhus who are using you to get their vested interests in place.

3. At a press conference following Dasa’s accusations earlier in the day on Thursday, Shivakumar rubbished the charges levelled against him by the two.

A. Getting a taste of his own medicine must be bitter to swallow. He has a right to deny the charges, legally speaking, but it could also be a case where he gets a first hand experience on how it feels when you are accused in public – especially in the case of the accusation against the Dasas as it is baseless.

4. “Both are cheats, they are selling our poverty abroad and making money. They are land grabbers and own 142 acres of land at Mahadevapura,” he said.

A. I didn’t know we could sell poverty and make money. Calling spade a spade is selling? So what do we do, close our eyes to facts and pretend we are alright. Does the government not take loans from foreign countries? Are they trying to sell us when they procure such a loan projecting facts. This is not called selling – in fact it is to be called purchasing.

Land grabbers?
First of all is it for personal use? So the accusation must have been against ISKCON Bangalore, legally speaking. But it is against the Dasas, because, it is purely a case of instigated personal attack.

5. Shivakumar said the revenue department had prepared a report, which states that 61.28 acres belonging to the department had been encroached upon by the duo at Srirangapatna.

A. That is a legal-issue. So what action has the revenue department initiated. This I would like to know in the view of public interest. DKS or his rumour-mill fuellers are welcome to seek justice from the proper channel if it can be proven to be true. But by making such an accusation publicly before a trial-suit is in place is something he is not entitled to. I would like to see the RTI copy, if any.

6. He said though there was no provision to collect funds from public, ISKCON collected huge funds from people in India and abroad for the mid-day meal scheme under the Akshaya Patra scheme.

A. How unfortunate if such a provision does not exist for a scheme like Akshaya Patra. The project is only subsidized by the Government & not run by it. So how or who will fill the gap of deficit to run the scheme if not willind donors of the public – the ‘millionaire’(?) devotees of ISKCON Bangalore who have relinquished everything or probably DKS himself? I would go the extent of saying if such a rule does exist scrap it as it is absolute nonsense to limit a divine-scheme like Akshaya Patra. In fact the scheme is doing something which the Government must be doing and therefore it must be grateful to the foundation.

7. “I had applied under RTI at both the department of public instruction (DPI) and the law department seeking clarification. Both said there was no provision to collect funds,” Kumar said.

A. If he is truly a well-wisher of the 1.2 million & odd children who are being fed by this venture then as a powerful politician he must fight against this rule & support Akshaya Patra providing his time, energy & resources for its ever-expanding success. This behavior of DKS is called ‘Using loopholes to create holes’.

8. Kumar denied charges of the duo that he was spewing venom against them over a land deal which went against him on Kanakapura Road.

A. History has been a witness for both the background of the charge made against him & his denial of the same. No further comments.

9. Following charges levelled against ISKCON by Shivakumar in the Legislative Assembly, a joint house committee had been constituted by the government headed by BJP MLA Yogish Bhat to probe charges of misappropriation of funds under the Akshaya Patra scheme.

A. Lets wait for the probe to reveal all & expose the true colors of one & all. Fair & square and I welcome the move for the probe. It will tell all as-it-is. (Latest news - Now exonerated)

Finally, a word or two for the makers of the blasphemous blog – Madhu Bandit News Blog – ‘A completely avaishnava behavior (may be due to the evil effect of gurvaparadha) & certainly cannot be the dream-child of a true devotee of the Lord. Good time spent on the wrong issue. Look within the system you are rotting in & get out of it if not rectify it as soon as possible before the impending doom that is fated for all. Prove to world your good intentions by positive & constructive actions in your centers rather than pick on others. You have 100s of centers following your method so concentrate on them. Be the living examples. And don’t forget to prevent the fall-down of your gurus. Or even better, please analyze why the so-called-gurus are falling like dried leaves of a summer.

‘If we all learn to cleanse our own dirt, the world will be a cleaner place’.

Srila Prabhupada’s ISKCON Bangalore – Where Prabhupada is the sole ‘diksha guru’

Introduction
Hare Krishna,
In 1977, Srila Prabhupada left His material body and left His mission of Krishna Consciousness into the hands of a Governing Body Commission constituting 11 disciples which He had handpicked. These disciples were supposed to be the administrators of all ISKCON temples worldwide who would discharge their functions on behalf of Srila Prabhupada. Like before, as was practiced even when Prabhupada was physically present in this world, the GBC would, with the help of individual temple presidents would continue the initiations of disciples with recommended procedures on His behalf who would be formally accepted as disciples of Srila Prabhupada. So they would be the GBC & associates would be functioning as ‘ritviks’ whereas the ‘diksha guru’ would be perennially Srila Prabhupada Himself. All those closely associated with ISKCON movement are well aware of the official documented directive that His Divine Grace left in this regard.

Vision of Srila Prabhupada
Being a foresighted visionary Prabhupada could sense what was in store in the future if He would not leave behind clear-cut instructions on these matters. So, Him registering the society of ISKCON in 1966 and the July 1977 directive was a well thought of move knowing the nature of this world. He also never appointed a Guru or a successor Guru who would take over after He would wind up His pastimes in His physical realm. The simple question to be asked here is if Prabhupada had known some eligible disciple would emerge from his ranks of disciples why would He painstakingly spend His nights translating Vedic wisdom and writing more than 80 volumes. The answer is because He knew that none of them would qualify for a spiritual master can ‘see-through’ His disciples heart, mind & character. All His followers must then morally respect His sound judgment in this matter & as obedient disciples must not be claiming to be an Acharya who will replace Prabhupada as Diksha Guru.

The betrayal
But the members of the GBC (sadly & ironically who, almost all, were His first rung disciples) chose to voluntarily violate this unsaid but obvious order of their Guru & chose to do the contrary. In the process they put the entire fraternity of ISKCON at stake. This strong betrayal of the Guru would cost them dear was only a rhetoric that would then lead to the abysmal downfall of these ‘pseudo-gurus’ & their not-so-innocent followers (not-so-innocent because some knew the actual facts). Recent history has borne witness to this & yet some foolish materialists-disguised-as- guru & their equally foolish followers don’t seem to learn from their fellow-connivers fate. Or are they blind to the obvious reason for the roaring success of ISKCON Bangalore under the able guidance of Madhupandit Dasa & Chanchalapathi Dasa – it being, Srila Prabhupada’s ISKCON Bangalore, which is the only temple under the flagship of ISKCON where Srila Prabhupada is the sole ‘Diksha guru’. When the spiritual master is the centre of your services then where is the question of failure? It would be wise of the detractors of this saving-grace-of-ISKCON group namely ISKCON Bangalore, to introspect & do some soul-searching as to where they went wrong. This will be their panacea for the wrongs they committed at the lotus feet of our beloved Srila Prabhupada - after all He is Karunasindhu & adama-janara bandhu.

The most grievous type of vaishnava-aparädha is called gurv-aparädha, which refers to offenses at the lotus feet of the spiritual master. In the chanting of the holy name of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, this gurv-aparädha is considered the most grievous offense. Guror avajnä sruti-shästra-nindanam (Padma Puräna). Among the ten offenses committed against the chanting of the holy name, the first offenses are disobedience of the spiritual maste. SB 4.21.37

Conclusion
Phalena paricéyate: one's success or defeat in any activity is understood by its result. There are many karmis in the dress of devotees, but the Supreme Personality of Godhead can detect their purpose. The karmis want to use the property of the Lord for their selfish sense gratification, but a devotee endeavors to use the Lord's property for God's service. Therefore a devotee is always distinct from the karmis, although the karmis may dress like devotees. SB 8.9.28
